2 Macintosh Cloth
A fabric that was named after the inventor. It was produced by cementing together two layers of fine cotton fabric with a solution of caoutchouc in coal naptha, or liquid rubber. The fabrics and the solution are permanently pressed together through wood rollers and the cloth is then thoroughly dried. It is made up into outer garments, aprons, etc., which resist rough wear and are weather and moisture proof. -

There are many types of belting woven, from the heavy belts used for power transmission to the light cotton belts used for dress purposes. Balata belting is made by cementing several layers of cotton duck together by means of Balata solution. Petersham Belting is a cotton fabric woven in suitable widths for use as binding for the tops of skirts. Usually all cotton and in plain, twill or sateen weave. -

A special waterproof cover fabric, formed by cementing two light-weight cotton fabrics together with rubber solution. Both fabrics are made alike in quality but the inside or lining is made different in design or colouring. Qualities vary from 54 ends and 54 picks per inch up to 64 ends and 64 picks per inch, and 2/60's to 2/80's grandrelle warp with 60's to 90's yam dyed weft.
